St. Anthony of Padua has a very active student council, empowering our students to have a voice in decision-making, school activities, and fundraising. Our student council serves as a wonderful leadership opportunity for students in grades 4 through 8. Homeroom class representatives are elected by individual classrooms in grades 4 through 7 with our executive board being compromised of students in grade 8.
Members of student council have a large responsibility and must be dedicated in their role of representing our student body. Members meet with administration and a staff advisor multiple times a month to provide insight and plan upcoming events. Based on the discussions from the meetings, students are given tasks to share with their classrooms. Through this process of sharing information and gathering feedback from classrooms, we believe the decisions made by student council serve in the best interest of students.
In addition to the role of sharing and gathering information, executive board members of student council are asked to lead in a greater capacity than classroom representatives by overseeing and leading school activities. Some examples of student council-led activities and events include Cougar Games, charity fundraisers, Catholic Schools Week, and pep rallies.
As our student council continues to grow and develop, we look forward to building the leadership capacity in our school and strengthening the voice of our students.
